Oh my, I'm afraid today was somewhat of a fizzle.
I basically worked from 11am-10pm....and was very very busy. So I made some good money, especially considering it's Monday, but I was already tired from my Saturday and Sunday night hell shifts so my legs are really hurting. On top of that, my lower back is killing me in one particular place since my last chiropractor visit. It actually got a little better as the day went on, but yikes it feels like I have a pinched nerve or something.
So, I was planning on hitting the gym after work this evening, seeing as I was in a first cut section and that usually means you are outta there around 8:30 on Mondays. But by the time I got out at ten I wouldn't have made it before closing time even if I still had the motivation, which I did NOT.
But, I'm not going to give myself an F for the day because I'm sure I walked the equivalent of 5 miles in my eleven hours of serving today. I'm going to try to make up the running session this week too. So, I'm gonna say I get a D+. :(
Eating wise I did ok....didn't really have much of a chance to eat but I tried to sneak something in when I could. I had to eat at work (and hey, it was FREE) so I had the Chicken Pad Thai which is one of the lighter things on the menu, but still lots of noodles. I also lucked out and got a free brownie which I shared with a co-worker. YUM :) So...I'll say a D+ for this area today as well.
I am looking forward to later this week when I'm not working back to back shifts and have some days off. When you're a server, your weekends consist of work and your mid-week is more like the weekend for normal people. It's all topsy-turvy. Just one of the many strange ways of the server lifestyle. Speaking of which....there is a great blog called Waiter Rant that really says it all. He's an amazing writer and had a book published based on his blog about a year ago. I highly recommend checking it out...start at the beginning. Here's one of my favorites:
