Week one, day one

Weight: 150
I plan to only weigh myself and record it every Monday morning. I figure if I lose two pounds a week which most experts agree is a safe and realistic goal and easily attainable with the methods I will be using, I should be down to my goal within 13 weeks.

Workout: I plan to use a combination of running, strength training, and pilates/yoga. I have a modular running system from the book Daniels' Running Formula that gradually builds up your body to run distances...now I am not at all a runner, but I started using this system along with my fiancee Eben this summer (he was trying to switch his body from speedskating to running in preparation for the Marines) and I actually quite enjoyed it. So it is basically a 7 day plan, with optional days off on days 2, 4, and 6. I am on "White level" (which is the second 16 week chunk) week one. Weeks one through four are the same and then it switches up for the next four, and so on. For strength training I am doing a set of excercises that Eben (who was a personal trainer) set up for me that use 3, 5, and 8 pound weights and an exercise ball.
My plan is to run the prescribed days according to the plan, and on days off do strength training and/or yoga and pilates.

Today I ran the week one, day one plan but had to cut it from 40 minutes to 30 as I am still recovering from the flu and have a persistent cough...once I started hacking I thought I should probably leave so people didn't freak out about the spread of swine flu and all that.
I also did 20 minutes of yoga and 40 crunches on the ball.
Eating wise, no major infractions to report. I am trying to eat smaller amounts more frequently and I did today, but that is always easier on days I don't have to work. Hope to get a cookbook soon and try some tasty healthy recipes...

Fitness= B+
Diet=B

So.....so far so good! I am feeling good and ready to get into shape. I am liking the idea of having a project that will keep me busy while Eben is away and I can't talk to him outside of letters...and the end result will be so worth it!!
